My plan is to finish the Frank to 5k program and then launch into round two with no pause. The second time that I do the program, I will be doing it on the treadmill mixed with morning beach running. The SoCal even takes place on October 20th and 21st. That give me about 14 weeks until the event. I am on week three of my first round and, barring setbacks, I'll finish in another six weeks. If I start up again with no pause then it'll take me a total of 15 weeks from now to be running on treadmills/outdoor surfaces. Even if I am one week short of goal when this event happens, I'll still be conditioned enough to finish the race. I'm not expecting to finish as a survivor, still I'll have a notch on my belt for running a race. There will also be swimming, climbing, and other obstacles involved so it's not a true 5k race but it's still an experience I'll be proud of! I will keep you posted on this as more details become available!
I know... It's not a zombie but you get the point! Today I was browsing Yahoo! at work and came across this gem. This would kill two birds with one stone! A 5k race while fighting ZOMBIES?!? Where do I sign up?!?! Here. And it just so happens that there will be an event halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego in October! I was planning on researching schedules for 5k races to try out after completing the Frank to 5k running program the second time and then this came into my life! Registration is $87 I believe, and they are 90% full, so it is a crap shoot as to whether I'll be able to take part in the Run For Your Life campaign this year. I wouldn't be able to get the ticket for a little over a month. If it's available on August 15th then you bet your asses that I will be there. In the mean time, my challenge has just became a little more clear and my determination has doubled to succeed!

That sounds like an awesome 5k! I want to do one but for the last 2 months Ive just been eating a more & lifting a ton which helped build muscle & increase my max lifts, but didnt help my build stamina up in running or biking. I'm starting to transition to more cardio/less heavy lifting in order to burn some of the fat I added/already had. Nice thing is, with the extra muscle i added, I will burn more calories. Going for a nice early morning bike ride...first one in about 2 months! I'm a bum

Just keep doing what you're doing! I get the feeling that I'll have to make a choice as to if I want to go pure cardio or a little cardio with an emphasis on lifting. For the time being, anything that I do is going to be an improvement on where I was. I don't know yet which direction I'll take yet. It all depends on how I look and how I want to look. Until I hit the mid 200's I won't know.
