On the measurement front I still have not been able to find a tape measure so I've devised a new system. I'm going to use my belt as the measurement unit and then I'm going to get a toolbox measurement tape to measure the points on the belt. So now the hunt begins for one of those. That shouldn't be so hard, right?
Something new for me is my body. Sounds kinda weird, right? Let me explain. I've been tinkering around with diet and whatnot over the past week and, especially since I've been going to the gym, I've noticed that if I don't regulate my times for eating then my energy levels don't work with me. Yesterday I slacked off and I didn't eat till almost noon. I spent the afternoon job hunting at full speed. Six rolls around and I walk back to the car. All day all I've had was that hot dog for lunch. By the time I reached the car, I felt so dead that I almost instantly went to sleep. I ended up using yesterday as my day off from the gym. We drove to a restaurant and had dinner. Then as I ate, I came to life! By the time that we were done eating, I was buzzing from the energy I felt was flooding throughout me! The gym closed at 10 and it was too late to get there and work out fully. I was amazed at that feeling though. Being as big as I was before I always felt kind of sluggish throughout the whole day and often times needed to take naps. Now, as long as I eat balanced meals spaced out over time I don't need naps to make it through my day.
I really like going to the gym now. It's weird. Since I know now the direction I want to go and the way to get there, going to the gym isn't so bad anymore. Back in the day when I had my own membership to various gyms, I would dread having to go and work out. My new best friend is the elliptical. We've been getting to know each other quite well over the past few days. I must say that it is just as fond of me as I am of it! I started on Sunday with a half hour thinking that it would wreck me pushing through at least 3 MPH but after the 30 minutes were up I was feeling great! So I upped it to 45 minutes, and each time I go I also do weight lifting as well.
Progress Report
- Speed is increasing as well. This is apparent through the distances I cover. Sunday I walked 2 miles in 30 minutes. In 45 minutes the following day I bumped up to 3.25 miles in 45 minutes. I took yesterday off. Today in 47 minutes I did 3.75 miles in the same amount of time. So I increased half a mile in that time. I enjoy pushing myself more and more. What I started doing is at the 40th minute of the 45 minute walk I'll pick a song and push it for as much as I can. I had such a good time with the song today that I extended it another two minutes so that I could finish the song before the 5 minute cool down.
- I've been weight training too! Very lightly. After I finish my walk at the gym then I hop onto the machines and work 2 muscle groups. I only do one exercise per muscle group, but as the weight comes off, I'll increase that number as well. Sunday I did three reps of Lat Pulldowns and Bicep Curls. Monday I worked the shoulder press and peck flies. Today I did back extensions, abdominal crunches on this machine and then I did a bonus run on the rowing machine. Because of the intensity of Monday's workout, I actually finished the day negative on calories. Which reminds me, my next post that I write will be focusing on starvation mode and calorie intake while exercising. The reason is because with the my fitness pal app it tells me that I need to make up the calories that I lose exercising but I've also read online that when you're big like me, that sort of deficit isn't detrimental to weight loss. I will get to the bottom of it and let you all know!
- A vlog will be coming soon! Sunday- today I have walked a minimum of one hour which is a Frankbox Achievement! :-D :-D :-D! And when I say that, I have still been walking outside on my own for t least an hour on top of the elliptical sessions. Over these past four days I have tallied a total of 15 miles between walking and machine! Which was my total for last week! Progress progress progress progress!
- I'm going to leave you all not with a funny picture and caption (You know the drill! Please leave feed back on all things fitness, nutrition, support, and everything else under the Sun!) this time! Instead I'm going to leave you with a video of the song that I used almost exclusively when I'm lifting weights! I like this song a lot because it sounds so bad ass and makes me feel like I am the Megazord or Godzilla crushing every little person under my giant feet! I'm weird, I know, but it makes me feel unstoppable! If you have any songs you use to pump you up please share with me as well! For running or lifting weights! The song from my favorite anime One Piece called Luffy vs Ratchet Round One. Definitely check it out and maybe you'll add it to your repertoire as well! That's all for now! Until the next episode!
