What I'm going to do for this week is a 100% juice fast. Joe, the main character in the documentary, created a website for the movie called www.jointhereboot.com. On here, they have detailed plans laid out for anyone to do a cleanse of their body. You can go on a 5,10, or 15 day cleanse. The beginning and end portions of the plan combine healthy, fruit and veggie recipes combined with juicing. The middle portion is nothing but the juice fast. The great thing about this website is all the resources at your fingertips. You can join the reboot and jump into the network of people who do this for support and tips. They have thousands of user submitted recipes to keep your palette fresh. In the movie, Joe and later on Phil (a morbidly obese trucker) both go on 60 day juice fasts. While the results of doing a juice fast for that long are incredible, they also had access to physician checkups on a frequent basis to make sure that they were getting all of the nutrients they needed. I'm going to take this on a week by week basis. At the end of the week I'll review how things went and then move on from there.
What to expect:
Going on a juice fast yields amazing weight loss results due to the fact that I will be ingesting only the juices and nutrients from the fruits and veggies, so the body absorbs them quickly and then moves on to the fat cells to burn for energy for the rest of the time. My goal in this week is to lose four pounds on the juice fast. Four pounds is a safe enough number because I don't really know what to expect from this whole process. Tomorrow I will weigh and measure myself and then in a week I will weigh myself again to see the results!
I think I will also make a page to monitor my progress daily. It won't be anything more detailed than my Frank to Fitness page. Just something to talk about how I am feeling and what I'm experiencing during the fast.
I've already juiced for tomorrow's breakfast, brunch, and lunch (Since I'll be at work for those times) and I've got the recipes picked out and ready to go for dinner! I didn't have enough time to write up more about juicing today so later in the week I'll post more about the whole process of juicing, and the research I've done for it. I want to assure you all that this isn't just something I decided to just do (for once in my life). Over the past year I've read up on the effects of juice fasting as well as the science behind it.
